Green Orchard
A zero-carbon home fully immersed in its natural setting overlooking the Severn estuary.
When the clients found the property, it had been divided into several flats and lost nearly all of its original features. We transformed the property back into a single home that would cater to the facets of modern life most revered by the clients—prioritising spaces for entertaining, exercising, and relaxing.
While open-plan living was central to the brief, we were careful to ensure the original proportions of the house were not compromised—maintaining a level of individuality and personalisation to each space. On the lower ground floor the kitchen enjoys a harmonious blend of materials, such as a large marble island delicately detailed with copper, accompanied by polished concrete flooring, and bespoke cabinetry.
A powerful staircase fabricated in blackened steel and clad in a bespoke finished oak has been reinstated in the original stair-well position, connecting all floors throughout the building.
On the first floor, the main bedroom connects to the en-suite bathroom by way of sliding doors. In the main bathroom, a large skylight has been added to maximise the flow of natural light. A double shower and soaking tub are accompanied by bespoke marble fronted his-and-hers basins.
At basement level, a generous height ensures the gym and home office retain ample light, refraining from the traditional realm of dark basement spaces.
The rear elevation is presented in a custom profile folded fascia in patinated bronze, framing a large set of sliding doors that open into the main kitchen. Also featured in the rear extension is an elegant large marble panel that forms a harmonious connection between exterior and interior through material palette. Outside, limestone paving leads to the outdoor living space. Divided by flower beds, steps lead up to an al-fresco dining area, with casual seating beside a fire pit.
