For this garden studio, we maximized every bit of the limited footprint by incorporating a basement and a mezzanine level. Now, this soundproof music studio hides between the greenery at the bottom of a London terrace house.
Designed to maximize natural sunlight, the studio features a twisted-pitched roof and an oversized window that beautifully frames the garden's changing seasons. This thoughtful design creates a versatile space that accommodates a lifetime of pursuits.
The internal staircase runs parallel to the highest section of the roof, ensuring privacy by preventing any overlooking issues with the neighbours. The decision to build downward was essential for providing ample storage for records and equipment. The interiors effortlessly line the walls, providing functional and usable storage for a space in constant use, even finding room to cleverly integrate a convenient tea station.
Soundproofing was a crucial consideration for this music studio. The Wilson Brothers collaborated with our clients' sound technicians to develop bespoke acoustic panels for the countertops above and below the storage drawers. These drawer fronts feature integrated sound absorbers, and the record shelves include a routered groove, allowing record sleeves to be displayed like pieces of art.
This harmonious blend of design and functionality ensures that the garden studio is not only a place for creativity but also a beautiful extension of the home.
